My moto is "continuity and balance through spacing". Although I can do total or partial tear-outs, there is an art form to it that may include scaling back mature shrubs and matching them up with the new plant stock and bed sizes. Japanese Maples, Boxwoods, Hollies, and Burning bushes can be scaled back to bonsai styles that are estate quality. Many properties have flowering Crabs and other estate-quality ornamental trees that require periodic pruning to highlight the trunk and shape. The type and color of any mulch or rock added could depend on your roof, siding or brick color. I always encourage people to get all the free estimates they can. While i am there talking with you I will give you an honest opinion, even if it goes against what you are wanting to do.
